Sunstone Technology Ventures has announced it invested in Kontakt.io, a Kraków based  micro-location technology company founded by Tomasz Kolek, Rafal Janicki and Szymon Niemczura. Kontakt.io is focused on providing SMBs and Enterprises across all verticals a comprehensive hardware and software micro-location platform, leveraging Bluetooth Low Energy and iBeacon.

Sunstone led the USD 2 million Series A round into the company. Max Niederhofer is joining the board of directors of Kontakt.io as part of the investment.

Sunstone’s portfolio company Seriously announced it closed a $2.65M seed extension round from return backers Sunstone Capital and Upfront Ventures, adding Daher Capital as a new investor. This round brings Seriously’s total seed raise to $5M. The new funding will be invested into content development and further building out the team.

The company also announced two significant new hires. Philip Hickey has joined as VP, Marketing & Communications. He joins from Rovio where he led marketing strategy and execution across the company. Petri Räsänen has joined the company as Game Artist. Petri is a talented game and technical artist, and was part of the team at mobile game developer Rocketpack which was acquired by The Walt Disney Company in 2011.

Seriously’s first title is scheduled to be released later in the summer.

Sunstone Technology Ventures has announced it invested in Templafy, a Copenhagen based template management company. Templafy is focused on helping employees to create on-brand, legally compliant and personalized business documents across locations, office platforms and devices. The company was founded by Christian Lund, Morten Hald Mortensen, Jakob Bjersing, Jeppe Schytte-Hansen, and Henrik Printzlau ; a team of experienced entrepreneurs with vast domain expertise.

Sunstone joined the USD 2.5 million seed round alongside Copenhagen based SEED Capital.

Sunstone Technology Ventures has announced it invested in Crate Data, a Berlin/Austria based open source data store company. Crate Data is focused on helping developers and companies to deploy large datastore clusters and use them in both applications and analytics. Its product requires zero administration, is rapid to install on commodity hardware or in the cloud, and is both easy and inexpensive to scale. The company was founded by Jodok Batlogg, Bernd Dorn, and Christian Lutz ; a team of leading big data practitioners and serial entrepreneurs.

Sunstone co-led the USD 1.5 million seed round alongside London based DFJ Esprit.
